The project was a collaborative effort between two visionary clients: renowned artist Stevie Love, internationally recognized anthropologist Bruce Love, sustainability architect Rob Mehl, and engineer Fred Webster, the world’s foremost expert in seismic engineering of earthen structures.

This tour is suitable for everyone, from beginners to building professionals, DIYers, natural building enthusiasts, adobe homeowners, aspiring owner builders, and the adobe curious. As an AIA-accredited class, architectural professionals will also have the opportunity to earn 1 HSW Learning Units
Course Learning Objectives

Tour Guides
Stevie Love
Outside of hand-building her own adobe home, Stevie Love is well known for her self-declared addiction to acrylic paint and its ability to create autonomous forms. She is widely recognized for her paint-sculpture hybrids, inspired by intense energy, nature, visual culture, and open experimentation. Love earned her Bachelor of Fine Art degree from California State University, San Bernardino and her Master of Fine Art degree from Claremont Graduate University. Her work has been featured in private and public spaces across the United States, Asia, and Europe and can be found in the permanent collections of the Lancaster Museum of Art and History, Lancaster, CA, and the Riverside Art Museum, Riverside, California
Ben Loescher
Ben Loescher is a founding Principal at Loescher Meachem Architects where his work focuses around reuse of existing buildings, high performance workplace design for the film, television and media industries, and innovation in earthen construction. Loescher provides education and advocacy for earthen buildings through Adobeisnotsoftware and is designing and permitting seismic adobe homes in California.
